When the Chinese Besieged a Dutch Star Fortress – The (Staggering) Siege of Zeelandia 1661/62
In 1661, the Dutch fortress Zeelandia on Formosa (now Taiwan) was besieged by Chinese warlord Koxinga, marked by hunger, disease, and brutal battles. The siege lasted almost a year before Zeelandia fell, ending Dutch rule in Taiwan. Despite fierce resistance, the Dutch surrendered after prolonged conflict and negotiation.
