"Yeah, hi Stephany. Of course, we're in that situation where the information is still slowly coming through. The way things work here in the UK is that the police are sometimes slower on making official announcements until they absolutely know exactly what happened. But as you say, at least eight people were stabbed. They're calling it a major incident. As you say, it took part, took place in the seaside town in Northwest England. Armed officers were called to the scene just before noon local time to respond to reports of a stabbing at a property. This is in the town of Southport, about 20 miles north of Liverpool. Armed officers have since detained what they say is a male suspect and they've seized a knife. Police are also saying, "There is no wider threat to the public," and there's been no suggestion, of course, of terrorism so far.

Response to the Victims of the Stabbing Incident

Thirteen ambulances responding to the incident have so far treated eight patients with stab injuries who were subsequently transported to a number of local hospitals. But most worryingly, including Alder Children's Hospital in Liverpool. The conditions and ages of the patients are unknown.
